THE CHERNIGIV YOUTH LIBRARY: activities after February 24, 2022

On February 24, 2022, with the onset of active hostilities in the Chernihiv region and the regional center, library services for readers were temporarily suspended, and employees went on forced leave.
Despite obstacles such as the lack of electricity, network, and communication, the library conducted active informational and educational work, distributing high-quality content on social networks and blogs to minimize the information gap for its users and other information consumers. This effort aimed to maintain contact with the audience.

On March 11, 2022, after enemy bombardments in the regional center, one of the library's buildings was completely destroyed, while another suffered significant damage.

After the end of active hostilities, librarians manually dismantled the debris in the fully destroyed library building, attempting to save the surviving property of the library and preserve cultural and material assets. They also put things in order in the damaged library building. Currently, the library operates in a rented space, with the hope that both library buildings will be restored in the future.

The library offers various services to users, including:

📌Youth Legal Information Center

📌Youth English Language Club "Languagetime"

📌Library Art Center

📌"Eco-library" project

📌"EcoAcademy" club

📌Art studio

📌Bibliorelax "Colorful Relaxation" project

📌Handmade Laboratory

📌Psychological workshops

Within the "Library Beyond Borders" project, events are held in safe areas (with equipped shelters) along with street actions, where librarians draw the community's attention to the life of the youth library.
